If you're looking for the best 'french baguette' don't ask for a baguette at the boulangerie. you won't get what you want. ask for 'une tradition, s'il vous plait' and you'll get the real thing. there's a yearly prize for the best 'tradi' and in 2023 it was won by an immigrant which drove ppl mad, but i love it :)
